Because these trails are singletrack, they are only suitable people with some mountain biking experience -- with singletrack! We would classify them as being suitable for intermediate riders. A confident beginner with singletrack experience who is willing to carry the bike through some parts, struggle with other parts, and fall off the bike a few times could also tackle these rides. NOTE: For the uninitiated, "singletrack" is a small walking or biking path of one to three feet in width, often containing rocks, roots, steps, etc., as obstacles. The Secret Singletrack rides we offer are predominantly downhill, with tricky traction, sometimes off-camber, and very steep in places.

We will be providing a lot of instruction and coaching throughout the day, in particular on how to tackle some of the more challenging sections on these trails.

By the challenging technical nature of these trails there is a higher chance of crashing than on our normal road rides ... so we provide leg and arm armour (included).

While these rides are great fun on our standard hard-tail KONA bikes, they are even more fun on our full-supension KONA Stinkys. It's well worth the upgrade!!!

Standard group size is 4-7 people. We can do smaller groups but it is more expensive. As such we recommend that you email us in advance to set up a date and we will look for other people to join you. Generally we run these trips three times a week. If you are unsure about your ability, then sign up for one of our dirt-road rides (like the World's Most Dangerous Road) and our guides can assess your riding level and advise you on which singletrack ride you would most enjoy.
