About Gravity Bolivia
Things just keep getting better and better!

Since 1998 Gravity has been hard at it, year after year of going down... We've now had more than 70 newspaper and magazine articles published about us all over the world, and we've been featured in numerous TV programs and a movie!

Each year we have managed to grow in size while at the same time improving our quality -- better bikes each year, more training for our guides and mechanics, new rides (check out our new "Secret Singletrack" and "Ghost Ride" rides), and more information and resources available for visitors to our office. We look forward to seeing you in 2006 and taking you on "the ride of your life"...

Just remember, Go with GRAVITY ... Accept No Shabby Imitations!

An Introduction

GRAVITY was established in July 1998 in Bolivia, after I had spent two months doing exploratory rides here while working with a mountaineering company as a guide and consultant. After two months of further research, we started with one of my Specialized Stump Jumpers and two Chilean hard-tail bicycles, doing rides four times a week.

It was quickly apparent that there was healthy demand for 1-day downhill mountain bike tours in Bolivia, so we set about amassing bicycles as quickly as we could -- mail order, cycle tourists passing through, friends bringing them in from New Zealand, borrowing and purchasing from local bike shops, etc.

Soon after, we expanded into a range of multi-day bicycle tours from non-technical cross-country rides through to ultra-technical downhill tours.

After a September 2000 trip to Interbike in Las Vegas, we negotiated a sponsorship partnership with Kona Bicycles and since then have been bringing in a range of Kona bikes. This has enabled us to upgrade our fleet, which now totals over 150 Kona mountain bikes in a range of models (full suspension and front suspension) and sizes and for a variety of skill levels. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF OUR BIKES has Hayes hydraulic disc brakes, for effortless and reliable breaking. We guarantee that all of our bikes are professionally maintained and that parts are replaced with original or brand-name quality parts.

We pride ourselves on using Western guides on every trip (working with our Bolivian guides and mechanics), Western-quality equipment, and operating by Western safety standards. We've done these rides more often than anybody else and our clients love our trips. (There's piles and piles of customer feedback forms to prove it!).

As we like to say "its no accident that Gravity is the only company recomended in every guide book to Bolivia since 1999", consistent rave reviews and positive word of mouth from thrilled riders are our secret to overwhelmingly positive reviews in all the guidebooks. Gravity takes literally thousands of people a year down the "World's Most Dangerous Road" (our most popular and famous ride, available any day of the week during the normal season) and many many more adventurous souls on our other (even more spectacular, but slightly less well known) rides.
